The white bear and brown horse display the 100th anniversary mark and can be bought for $12 each to benefit the 2017 celebrations.

Councilman Peter Eagler, part of the centennial committee, introduced the plush animals at a recent meeting to stir up the excitement.

"I got a few phone calls from people and they said they liked them," Eagler told Daily Voice. "It was received very positively."

When Clifton turns 100 in 2017, a commemorative parade will be the biggest event. Eagler said the date was still to be determined.

A beefsteak fundraiser at the Clifton Boys and Girls Club April 17 will also help fund the festivities.

For now the plush bears and horses will support the centennial. Eagler said if they become popular enough they could add other animals as well.

The councilman said he already has one he plans to give to a family friend.

To buy one of the plush animals, visit the city clerk's office at 900 Clifton Ave. Mondays from 8:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or Tuesdays through Fridays 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
